Competition Trophies

The following trophies are awarded by the club each year. The trophies are loaned to the recipient for each year but remain the property of the club. At the end of the year, the cup passes to the new recipient.

 

PHOTOGRAPHER OF THE YEAR TROPHIES

PHOTOGRAPHER OF THE YEAR is awarded to the photographer who scores the highest aggregate of judges’ marks for his or her entries in Print of the Year, Projected Image of the Year and Set Subject competitions regardless of their Division status.

PRINT PHOTOGRAPHERS OF THE YEAR are awarded to the photographer in each division who scores the highest aggregate of judges’ marks for their entries in Print of the Year competitions.

PROJECTED IMAGE PHOTOGRAPHERS OF THE YEAR are awarded to the photographer in each division who scores the highest aggregate of judges’ marks for their entries in Projected Image of the Year and Set Subject Projected Image competitions.

NAMED TROPHIES

THE LINDESAY CHALLENGE CUP (named after an early club member) is awarded to the Photographer of the Year, i.e. the photographer who gains the highest aggregate of judges’ marks from Club print, projected image and set-subject competitions held during the season (September to May).

THE HAYWARD CHALLENGE CUP (named after the Club founder, J. C. Hayward) is awarded to the Club Member with the highest total of judges’ marks in Print of the Year competitions Division 1. This cup is missing. THE MEADE TROPHY (named after Lady Margaret Meade) has been substituted.

THE FOWLER CUP (named after an early club member) is awarded to the Club Member with the highest total of judges’ marks in Print of the Year competitions in Division 2.

THE RON FRANCIS PICTORIAL CUP (named after the celebrated local photographer and early club member) is awarded to the Club Member with the highest total of judges’ marks in Projected Digital Image Competitions in Division 1.

THE JEFF WAGNER CHALLENGE CUP (donated by past Chairman, Jeff Wagner) is awarded to the Club Member with the highest total of judges’ marks in Projected Digital Image Competitions in Division 2.

THE BARBARA BURGE TROPHY (named after an early club member) is awarded to the winner of the Audiovisual Competition.

THE FRANK WICKENDEN TROPHY (a plate provided in honour of the Late Frank Wickenden) is awarded to the Club Member who is judged to have entered the best panel of prints in this competition.

THE MANX CUP (donated by the late Mike Lindsay) awarded for prints entered in the Mike Lindsay competition.

THE ST. CHRISTOPHER TROPHY (inaugurated in season 2017-2018, and named after the Club’s regular Wednesday meeting room) is awarded for the annual standalone Set Subject competition.

THE PAUL BARROW TROPHY (donated by past member Paul Barrow) is awarded for the separately judged best Nature image entered into regular league competitions during the season.

THE CHAIRMAN’S TROPHY (donated by past Chairman, Jeff Wagner) is awarded to the new member with the highest aggregate of judges’ marks scored in Print and Projected Image competitions during their first full season with the Club.

THE PRESIDENT’S TROPHY (also called The Millennium Trophy) endowed by Club President, the Late Edward Mendell in 1999 is awarded to the Club Member who the Chairman considers to have made the greatest contribution to the Club or significant progress in any photographic field during the year.

THE PHOENIX CUP is available if this competition is reinstated.
